Hello 2016!

Now that the holidays are over and it is officially 2016, I have been doing a lot of work on goal creation and coming up with systems that will allow those goals to be met.  I've never had a problem dreaming big -- I expect a lot from myself -- and while I do meet a lot of my goals every year, I'm always striving to improve and meet more benchmarks.  My 2016 goal list is LONG (and I'm still coming up with more!), but I wanted to share a few of them with you.

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year everyone!

Blog Consistently

I have so many great ideas for blog entries but I never get around to actually writing them. Why? Well, planning a client's wedding is more important and time-sensitive than writing a blog post.  To be honest (and I'm a pretty straight shooter), the idea of sitting down and writing a blog post is pretty boring to me. And who likes to do boring things? Not me. However, once I get in the zone, the words tend to flow freely and the blog writing is not so bad. So, I'm going to suck it up and commit to writing consistently and sharing my ideas here.

I promise I have some really great ideas -- from party theme ideas and inspiration, to helpful advice about planning a party or wedding. I'll even share some of my horror stories from planning events and what I did to solve the unique problems that can arise on event day.

Step Up My Instagram Game

Instagram is another area where I need to be more consistent. The difference here is that I LOVE Instagram!  It's such a fun app and a great way of seeing little tidbits of people's days. There's TONS of bridal and party inspiration in there too! So why do I not post on there as much as I should? Well, I kind of forget!

So in 2016 I'm definitely going to be more intentional about posting on Instagram so all of you can see what I'm up to, what inspirational image I might have found that day, etc.
And don't forget to follow me at @ligevents!

Improve My Photography Skills

I am constantly in awe of the talent of the fabulous photographers that I get to work with on events. If I could get to a place where I have one ounce of the talent and skill they have, I'd be happy.

While my previous forays into learning photography with my trusty DSLR have not gone so well, I'm hoping that this will be the year when I won't get frustrated by all of the terminology and terrible photos and really learn to take some beautiful photographs.

Get More Systems and Processes in Place

As my business grows and I look ahead, it's become more and more apparent that all of the inner workings of my business cannot just live in my head. Therefore, I'm going to begin the arduous task of writing down all of the processes that I undertake on a daily basis. My hope is that by the end of the year I will have a handbook of sorts that will make it easier for me to step away from my business (say, to go on vacation) and leave someone else in charge. It will also hopefully ease future employees' transitions into the LIG Events world.

So there you have it... some of my goals for 2016!  (I'm definitely planning on writing a year-in-review post at the end of the year, so let's see if I can stick to these resolutions!)

What are some of your goals for 2016? Let me know in the comments!
